Pulis: Coaches like Klopp are 'sexy and bright'

The Stoke City manager feels coaches like the Liverpool boss leave people astonished easily with their ideas, but admits he will listen to them.

Tony Pulis says coaches like Jurgen Klopp are seen as "sexy" by those in the Premier League, but says he is open to their ideas. 

While Pep Guardiola’s arrival at Manchester City has attracted a lot of interest, his side have suffered a dip in form, while Klopp’s Liverpool continue to impress.

The German has been heralded at Anfield since replacing Brendan Rodgers at the helm in October 2015, leading the club to the Europa League final, in which they lost to Sevilla.

This season, the Reds are on a 13 game unbeaten streak in all competitions, but Saturday's 0-0 draw with Southampton leaves them sitting second in the Premier League, one point behind Chelsea.

Klopp's men are the highest scoring team in the league, with Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino netting regularly.

Echoing complaints from Burnley manager Sean Dyche regarding the hype that surrounds some coaches in the English top flight, Pulis said they leave people “astonished”.

“That’s the way it is, they come into the country, they’re sexy, they’re new, they’re bright," he told the Birmingham Mail.

“That’s fine, brilliant, not a problem for me.

“I’ll listen to them, they say Klopp trains them three times a day in pre-season, absolutely amazing.

“I’d never have thought of that.

“That’s what Sean’s on about, they do stuff that is astonishing that we’ve ‘never heard of’.”

While Liverpool continue to challenge at the top of the table, Stoke are in 13th place after Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth – 15 points behind leaders Chelsea.
