Barcelona captain Lionel Messi named All Football Player of the Week

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has been named All Football Player of the Week for the 5th time this season!

Messi highlights our All Football Team of the Week and was selected as a competitive candidate in our All Football Player of the Week Vote, in which he casts the most votes beating Salah, Luiz, Lewandowski & Quintero to the award.

The Barca Superstar curled two sensational free-kicks and set up another goal as he and his teammates romped to victory at the RCDE Stadium and made sure Barca retain their two-point lead atop the Primera Liga table.

Perhaps it was the recent inflammatory comments from Pele or his incredulous fifth-place finish in Ballon d'Or voting, but certainly Messi was playing with some extra vigor against the crosstown rivals. 

He scored two free kicks for the first time in the same game in La Liga and the second time in his career -- he managed it against Sevilla in the European Super Cup in 2015, too. Since 2014, Messi has scored more free-kicks (19) than 11 top teams in Europe's most competitive leagues, including Juventus, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, among others.

With his two goals, he caught up with Stuani at the top of the Pichichi with 11 league goals this season. He's also the league's best creator with eight assists. 

Messi only has one skill? Well, maybe the name of the skill is 'Victory'.
