AFCON 2025: Castelletto sssesses Cameroon’s performance

Despite being eliminated by the host country, Jean-Charles Castelletto takes a particularly positive view of Cameroon’s performance at the 2025 AFCON.

The defender praised the renewed cohesion of a team in transition, highlighting the remarkable work done by the new coaching staff in record time. For him, national pride outweighs disappointment at the score.

“Honestly, I loved it! I saw players fighting for each other. I saw a united group. I saw a humble coach who had confidence in his team. Honestly, they gave us a great image. I think Cameroonians can be proud of them because they represented Cameroon. Arriving with two weeks or two and a half weeks of preparation, with a new staff, and managing to play games like that… We can only be happy for the future. And losing to Morocco, the host country, I think we came out of this AFCON with our heads held high. It bodes well for the future.”

Initially called up by coach David Pagou to be part of Cameroon’s adventure in Morocco, Castelletto had to withdraw at the last minute.
