CAF has come down hard on Samuel Eto’o following his behavior during the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final between Morocco and Cameroon.

The CAF Disciplinary Committee handed the Cameroonian football icon a four-match suspension along with a $20,000 fine after he publicly vented his anger over the refereeing and governing bodies during Cameroon’s elimination by the host nation. The decision was confirmed in an official statement released on January 14.
The incident dates back to January 9 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, where Cameroon lost 2–0 to Morocco. Seated in the stands, Eto’o lost his temper and openly confronted CAF president Patrice Motsepe and Moroccan FA president Fouzi Lekjaa, forcing several spectators to intervene.
FECAFOOT swiftly reacted by contesting the sanction, calling it unjustified and the result of a rushed procedure that violated the principles of a fair hearing. While reaffirming its full support for its president, the Cameroonian federation announced its intention to pursue all possible legal avenues to challenge the ruling.
