Mané: This will be my final AFCON match

Sadio Mané has announced that the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final will be his last appearance in the tournament.

Sadio Mané, speaking to beIN Sports: “We knew it was going to be a tough game. We know this Egyptian team. We tried to play with experience. We couldn’t give away easy balls. They’re dangerous on the counterattack with players like Salah and Marmoush. At the back, Koulibaly and Gueye commanded and kept the team balanced.

I’m happy for the team and for the people. (On his goal), I was a little lucky too, I have to admit, because the ball came out of nowhere. The ball hit my stomach, it was well placed, and I had the reflex to shoot with one touch.

We know how to play in the final. A final is there to be won. I’ll be very happy to play my last final in the Africa Cup of Nations, to enjoy it and to help my country win.”

Mané’s announcement adds an emotional layer to the upcoming final, as he looks to end his AFCON career on a high note with Senegal.
