The Confederation of African Football has moved swiftly to address what it described as unacceptable conduct during the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025, opening formal investigations into incidents that marred two quarter-final matches. CAF confirmed it is reviewing events from Cameroon’s clash with hosts Morocco, as well as the heated encounter between Algeria and Nigeria.

In a strong statement, CAF condemned the behaviour of certain players and officials, stressing that actions witnessed during the matches fell short of the standards expected at one of African football’s flagship tournaments. Particular concern was raised over conduct directed at match officials and organizers, an area CAF insists will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Beyond the pitch, CAF is also examining video footage of an incident in the mixed zone involving members of the media who allegedly acted inappropriately. The governing body reiterated its commitment to professionalism across all tournament spaces and made it clear that appropriate sanctions will be pursued against anyone found to have breached CAF’s code of conduct.

As the tournament reaches its decisive stages, CAF says its priority remains protecting the integrity of the competition, the safety of officials, and the values that underpin African football on its biggest stage.
