On the eve of their quarter-final fixture of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) against Cameroon, fans have warned Morocco to produce a better display than they did against Tanzania in the Round of 16.

The Atlas Lions and the Indomitable Lions will face off at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat seeking a place in the semifinals of the AFCON tournament.

However, a spot check by Africa Top Sports has revealed Morocco fans are confident with their team and fear that if they don’t play better than they did against Tanzania, they will lose to Cameroon. Morocco qualified for the last eight after batting to edge out the Taifa Stars 1-0 while Cameroon defeated South Africa 2-1.

“I am not confident with Morocco, they are my team, but I don’t feel confident enough heading to the game because of how they played against Tanzania,” Ahemed Omar told Africa Top Sports in Casablanca ahead of the game.

“Whenever we go into any match, I am always confident, but this one… no. I have soo much fear that we may end up losing. Looking at the way we played against Tanzania, we didn’t deserve to beat them.

“Tanzania showed up better than us, and we only benefited from the one goal. Cameroon have had a good tournament so far, and we must be at our best to beat them. If we play like we did against Tanzania, then we are out, I am sorry.”

Mohamed Sukorrih, said: “It will be a very difficult fixture considering the fact, we are home the team, and will be playing under pressure. We need to stay calm and do our job, and avoid underrating Cameroon because they have a good team.”

He added: “It is true no one was happy with how we played against Tanzania; we were only happy because we qualified, and the players must do better to get early goals, and avoid conceding.”

This will be the fourth meeting between the sides at the AFCON finals, with Cameroon undefeated against Morocco at AFCON (W2 D1). It is their first AFCON meeting this century and their first clash at the finals for 39 years, 11 months and 29 days.

Their first AFCON meeting in 1986 ended 1-1 in the Group Stages, with Abdelkrim Krimau putting Morocco ahead in the 63rd minute before Roger Milla equalised in the 89th minute. Both teams progressed from Group B.
