AFCON 2025 : Saintfiet plays down Senegal threat ahead of clash

Experienced coach Tom Saintfiet has insisted that his team is not intimidated by Senegal, claiming they have faced tougher opponents in recent competitions. 

Speaking with confidence ahead of their next challenge, Saintfiet suggested that matches against sides like Morocco or Tunisia present a different level of difficulty compared to the reigning African champions.

“We have played against teams stronger than Senegal,” Saintfiet said. “Playing against Morocco or Tunisia is different. We are not impressed by Senegal.” His comments underline a calm but defiant mindset as his side prepares for what many see as a daunting encounter.

Saintfiet’s remarks are likely to add extra edge to the build up, particularly given Senegal’s reputation and recent success on the continental stage.
