Cameroon captain Nouhou Tolo has expressed pride in his side’s performance after the Indomitable Lions held defending champions Côte d’Ivoire to a 1–1 draw in a keenly contested encounter.

Tolo described the result as a positive step for a Cameroonian team still finding its rhythm. “It was such a good result for us. We played against one of the biggest teams in Africa,” the skipper said, highlighting the quality of the opposition and the challenge they posed.
The defender also pointed to the relative inexperience within the squad, noting that several young players were thrown into the spotlight with limited preparation time. “A lot of young players on this team, only one week to get ready for this tournament,” Tolo added, underlining the rapid transition the team has undergone.
Looking ahead to their next test, the Cameroonian captain admitted he is still learning about their upcoming opponents. “I don’t know yet, I didn’t really get a chance to watch this team,” he said. “I just know that they have a very good offensive team, so we’re going to see what happens.”
The draw leaves Cameroon encouraged as they continue their campaign, buoyed by resilience, youthful energy, and a captain confident in his team’s ability to grow as the tournament unfolds.
