AFCON 2025 organizers have taken a decision that will disappoint many supporters. After images widely shared on social media showed fans entering stadiums for free during several matches in Agadir, including Egypt vs Zimbabwe and DR Congo vs Benin, the local organizing committee has officially put an end to this practice.

Despite earlier denials from CAF, these scenes had fueled the idea of a “People’s AFCON” among supporters. The organizers have now made their position clear. In an official statement, the local committee confirmed that access to AFCON 2025 matches is strictly reserved for ticket holders.

The Grand Stade d’Agadir, like other venues, operates under a fixed maximum capacity that cannot be exceeded, with entry refused to anyone without a valid ticket in order to ensure spectator safety and the smooth running of matches.

While acknowledging the public’s passion for football, the committee called for discipline and respect for organizational rules. This decision follows several incidents around stadiums where fans attempted to enter without tickets, leading to crowd surges and minor clashes with security forces. Morocco has therefore opted to prioritize safety and order for the remainder of the tournament.
