AFCON 2025: Trabelsi Promises Total Team Involvement Against Super Eagles

Tunisia have vowed to unleash a more expressive, all-inclusive tactical approach when they face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in a heavyweight 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group C showdown.

Speaking ahead of the clash, the Tunisian coach, Sami Trabelsi admitted that their previous outing lacked creativity and player involvement, stressing that a rigid system built solely on organised offense and defense had limited individual performance levels within the team.

“Yes, in the last game there was no real expression,” he said. “When we play with only organised offense and defense, it decreases the performance of some players.”

The Carthage Eagles tactician was quick to acknowledge Nigeria’s dual strength on both ends of the pitch, but insisted Tunisia will respond with a collective game model that gives every player responsibility — not just defenders.

“Nigeria are strong offensively and defensively. All players will be involved, not only defenders.”

Tunisia are approaching the game with tunnel vision on matchday execution, brushing aside external noise from fans and digital platforms.

“We focus only on the field; social media or past results will not affect us.”

A major boost for Tunisia is the improving fitness of key attacker Hazem  who is back to full training intensity and trending positively toward match readiness.

“Hazem is fit and doing better in training.”Despite the optimism, the coach admitted that no team is without flaws, but revealed that Tunisia have conducted thorough analysis on Nigeria’s structure and weaknesses.

“There is no national team without weak points, and we have studied Nigeria’s.”

He closed with a bold declaration of intent, underlining Tunisia’s ambition in the tournament — one that demands defeating Africa’s elite to advance deep into the competition.

“To go far, we must beat big teams, and we have studied Nigeria’s. To go far, we must beat big teams.”
