Cusin praises Comoros’ fight despite Morocco defeat, eyes Zambia test

Stefano Cusin struck a balanced and defiant tone after Comoros’ defeat to Morocco, insisting his side did not play badly despite conceding twice against one of Africa’s strongest teams.

“We can’t say we played badly because we conceded twice,” Cusin said in his post-match assessment. “Had Rafiki scored to make it 1–1, the scenario could have been different. Morocco are a great team; we have to accept defeat against such a side.”

The Comoros head coach highlighted his team’s defensive discipline for large periods of the match, noting that they matched the Atlas Lions in intensity and organisation, even if the final outcome did not go their way.

“We were solid defensively,” he added. “But in this kind of game, when opportunity knocks, you have to take it. At this level, small moments make the difference.”

Despite the loss, Cusin believes his players represented their nation with pride, showing resilience and character on a demanding stage.

“The team showed a good face, and Comorians can be proud of their country,” he said. “Facing a team like Morocco is never easy, but the attitude and commitment were there.”

Comoros now turn their attention to their next Group fixture against Zambia, a crucial encounter as they look to get their campaign back on track.
