Despite playing in three World Cup tournaments and winning the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, the Nigerian goalkeeper bemoans his major disappointment
Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has revealed that his only regret in football is not making an appearance in Coupe de France.
The 35-year-old who joined the Stade Pierre-Mauroy outfit from Hapoel Tel Aviv in June 2011 has played in every club tournament for the Great Danes including the Uefa Champions League and the Europa League but still awaits his Coupe de France debut.
Enyeama has been a key player in Lille - after returning from loan at Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2013 - with 143 league appearances across the last four seasons before suffering a knee injury in April 2017 that kept him on the sidelines for over seven months.
The former Enyimba shot-keeper who went 1,062 minutes without conceding a goal in the 2013-14 Ligue 1 season has been majorly used in the Ligue 1 and European games throughout his spell with the French outfit. Although he was named as a substitute 10 times in the French Cup, the ex-Enyimba shot-stopper never got a chance to compete.
After seeing Wednesday’s Coupe de France quarterfinal games, the 2003 and 2004 Caf Champions League winner who is yet to feature for Lille in the French top-flight this season rued his absence from the competition.
Lille crashed out of this season's Coupe de France after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Strasbourg in the last-32 round.
