Chicago Fire continue to build roster with signings of two SuperDraft picks

The Chicago Fire added to their midfield on Wednesday afternoon with the acquisition of Tony Tchani and a few hours later, the Fire added to their attack by signing two of their 2018 SuperDraft picks.

Midfielder Diego Campos and forward Elliot Collier each signed one-year contracts with club options for 2019, 2020 and 221 on Wednesday, providing some much-needed depth to Chicago's attack. Campos has largely featured on the wing for head coach Veljko Paunovic during preseason while Collier figures to be Nemanja Nikolic's backup up top.

"Diego and Elliot have each demonstrated a good level of talent in the attacking phase of the game. Importantly, they have also exhibited a hungry attitude to improve and compete relentlessly," said Fire president and general manager Nelson Rodriguez in a statement.

Campos was selected in the second round (38th overall) from Clemson University. In 81 career games for the Tigers, Campos scored 23 goals and tallied 22 assists. The San Jose, Costa Rica native was named All-South Region First Team and First Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in his senior season.

A Fire PDL product, Collier was selected in the third round (49th overall) after appearing in 69 games over the course of four seasons at Loyola University Chicago, where he scored 15 goals and tallied 11 assists. The Hamilton, New Zealand native was named First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference in his senior season.
