The dates are now set for the biggest games in the Liga MX: check out schedule

The Liga MX schedule for the Apertura 2025 has been finalized. As previously announced, this tournament will run concurrently with the Leagues Cup, meaning Mexican and MLS teams will face a challenging calendar as they compete in two tournaments simultaneously.

Club América, Chivas Guadalajara, Cruz Azul and Pumas are considered the “big four” of Mexican soccer. Each team’s major rivalries are played out in a number of highly anticipated derby clashes - referred to as ‘clásicos’ - and we now know when when we’re going to witness the latest edition of these edge-of-the-seat clashes.

When are the major derby clashes in the Apertura 2025?

Early in the tournament, Chivas and Cruz Azul will face off on matchday 7, on Saturday, August 30. Then, on matchday 8, the Clásico Nacional between América and Chivas will take place on Friday, September 13.

This match is scheduled for Friday because on the Saturday, Mexican boxer Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez is due to face Terence Crawford to coincide with Mexico’s Independence Day.

América will continue its schedule by facing Pumas on Saturday, September 27 on matchday 11. Pumas will then clash with Chivas one matchday later on October 5, before Cruz Azul face América on matchday 13, on Saturday, October 18.

The Clásico Tapatío, in which Chivas faces Atlas, will take place on matchday 15, on Saturday, October 25. To close out the calendar, Cruz Azul and Pumas will meet on matchday 17, on Saturday, November 8.

This match does not yet have a defined venue, as a neutral field is being sought since both teams play their home games at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.
