Mary Earps could add further recognition to her fine season after the England and Manchester United goalkeeper was nominated for the Best FIFA Women's Goalkeeper award.

The 30-year-old helped the Lionesses to the World Cup final, where she saved a penalty in a 1-0 defeat to Spain.

She won the FIFA Best award last year and is looking to retain the honour, having already been named England Women's Player of the Year and in the Women's Super League team of the year.

She is up against Spain's Catalina Coll and Mackenzie Arnold of Australia and West Ham, with the winner announced at a London ceremony on January 15.

Earps is also leading the betting for the BBC's Sport Personality of the Year after being named on a six-person shortlist for the award this morning alongside Stuart Broad, Frankie Dettori, Rory McIlroy, Alfie Hewitt and Katarina Johnson-Thompson.

She is looking to be the second successive Lioness to win SPOTY after Beth Mead took home the 2022 award following England's Euro 2022 triumph.

She could also become the third successive woman to win it after Emma Raducanu in 2021 when she won the US Open as an 18-year-old.

Meanwhile, Manchester City's treble-winning goalkeeper Ederson has been shortlisted for the men's award.

Ederson, who helped City win the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League last season has been named alongside Yassine Bounou of Morocco and Sevilla, as well as Real Madrid and Belgium stopper Thibaut Courtois.
