Disaster for Lionesses as Walsh is taken off on a stretcher in tears vs Denmark

England's Keira Walsh appeared to suffer a serious knee injury during the Women's World Cup game against Denmark.

Walsh was seen mouthing 'I've done my knee' in television pictures.

The Barcelona midfielder was left in tears as she was taken off on a stretcher during the first half of the game in Sydney.

Walsh was replaced in the 38th minute by Laura Coombs.

The 26-year-old had started the game impressively and had played some neat passes.

England endured much misfortune with injuries ahead of the tournament, with captain Leah Williamson and Beth Mead both suffering anterior cruciate ligament injuries, while Fran Kirby is also missing due to injury.

Walsh will now be assessed to discover the extent of her injury, although the initial signs weren't encouraging.
