Foot Mercato are reporting that Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé (26) has rejected a five-year deal from Saudi Arabia, worth around €40m per year.
Dembélé’s current Barcelona deal expires at the end of next season, but the former Borussia Dortmund forward is in talks over a new deal. However, clubs are interested in luring him away from the Camp Nou this summer. Paris Saint-Germain have a long-standing interest in the player, but it was Al Nassr who made a concrete move.
The Saudi club were willing to pay the €50m release clause in the player’s contract, as well as offer Dembélé a mammoth €200m over the course of a five-year contract. However, that bid won’t arrive at Barcelona’s doorstep after the player himself rejected the move.
Dembélé has become the second French winger in the space of a week to turn down a move to the Saudi top flight. Moussa Diaby was also offered big money to move to the Gulf State, but he opted to join Premier League side Aston Villa.
