According to Fabrizio Romano, Séko Fofana is now set to complete a deal to sign for Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. The Ivorian midfielder’s pending move to Saudi Arabia had been put on hold, due to transfer restrictions placed on Al-Nassr. However, the move is now progressing towards completion.
The Lens captain will leave Northern France to team up with Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo Brozović in the Middle East. Fofana completed the first part of his medical tests in Portugal on Monday – with the club currently on a preseason tour in the Algarve. Lens will receive a fee in the region of €25m – €30m for the former Manchester City player, as confirmed by France Bleu earlier today.
Losing their club captain will surely come as a big blow to Lens, who have already lost star forward Loïs Openda to RB Leipzig this summer. Leipzig splashed out a club record fee to secure the services of the Belgian international in a deal worth nearly €50m. This combined with the considerable fee for Séko Fofana will provide Franck Haise with a large transfer kitty to prepare his squad for Champions League football next season.
