Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara 'attracting serious interest from Saudi Arabia'

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara could be on his way to Saudi Arabia after being the subject of 'serious interest' from clubs, despite turning down an earlier offer.

The 32-year-old is entering the last year of his deal at Anfield and has been earmarked as a marquee target for the Saudi Pro League.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool are yet to receive an official bid for the injury plagued midfielder, who is focused on making a return to first-team action following his lay-off at the end of the campaign.

The outlet understands the Spanish international currently intends to stay with Jurgen Klopp’s side, but the possibility of a move to the league remains open.

Thiago would be the latest high-profile footballer to commit to the Saudi project and could follow Reds legend Steven Gerrard to the country after he accepted a role as manager of Al-Ettifaq.
