The latest twist in the ongoing Brozovic to Al-Nassr transfer saga

Marcelo Brozovic's move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr has become a real soap opera. The last episode, just when the deal seemed to be closed, has caused the negotiations to stop.

Late on Thursday, the deal was considered done because Al-Nassr had managed to convince Brozovic with an offer of around €100 million for three seasons between salary, bonuses and signing fee; now it seems that the operation has run aground because the Saudi club has lowered its transfer offer to Inter Milan from €23m to €15m.

Barça had already withdrawn from the operation as they could not afford the amount of money they were looking to sign the Croatian midfielder. The Blaugrana's current option is to negotiate the signing of Oriol Romeu, currently at Girona and with a La Masia before developing his professional career in the Bundesliga and the Premier League, basically at Southampton.

Romeu would be Barça's option after not being able to afford major operations such as the aforementioned Brozovic or those of Zubimendi (Real Sociedad) or Kimmich (Bayern Munich). The option of Dani Parejo (Villarreal), who would be to Xavi Hernandez's liking but would not have the approval of the management team, has also been rejected in principle.

Obviously, if Brozovic and Inter break off negotiations with Al-Nsrr, the Croatian international could again become an option for Barça... at least for the moment because the options are reduced. In fact, the player was expected to pass the medical and the deal with the Saudi side was closed.
