Neymar receives offer from Saudi Arabia, Chelsea also interested

According to The Athletic, Neymar is Saudi Arabia’s latest target. The Gulf state has made a substantial offer to the Brazilian international, whilst there is also some residual interest from Chelsea.

The publication reports that Neymar, who has a contract that runs until the summer of 2025, is the latest member of PSG’s now-disbanded ‘MNM’ to receive interest. Given the Brazilian’s very substantial wage, finding suitors that have the financial means to pull off a deal is difficult.

However, they’ve already shown, the Saudi PIF have funds in abundance, demonstrated by the high-profile arrivals of players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kanté. The Athletic have reported that a “very large offer” has been submitted by Saudi Arabia for the former Barcelona forward.

There is also interest from Chelsea, and PSG “hope” that funds raised from the sales of players such as Kalidou Koulibaly, and impending sales of Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic, and potentially Mason Mount, will help the Stamford Bridge club make a move for their forward. PSG still want a fee for the player, whilst the Brazilian’s wage demands will be substantial.

The financial aspect of the deal makes any transfer difficult, as The Athletic report. The loss of Lionel Messi, as well as the potential departure of Kylian Mbappé also potentially complicates any deal, according to L’Équipe. Les Parisiens don’t want to lose all three attackers this summer, and the impending arrival of Luis Enrique as manager is also a good omen. The pair worked together at Barcelona.

The player himself had become more open to a departure, despite repeatedly expressing a desire to see out his PSG contract. However, Neymar is now considering staying at the club.
