Ella Toone has vowed that the England squad will do their utmost to make Leah Williamson proud at this summer's Women's World Cup.
England captain Williamson has been ruled out of the tournament after rupturing her anterior cruciate ligament while playing for Arsenal against Manchester United this week.
Williamson appeared to get her foot caught in the turf before twisting her knee.
Toone stated that the England squad are 'gutted' for Williamson but says that they will be determined to make a major impact at the World Cup.
Speaking on Soccer AM, Manchester United star Toone said: 'We're all gutted for her and can't wait for her to be back and we're all with her. Like you said she's our captain, our leader and she was a massive part of our Euros winning team, so we'll obviously go out there and hopefully make her proud.'
The Women's World Cup is set to take place in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and August 20.
England will take on Haiti, Denmark and China in Group D.
Williamson was the captain as England won the women's Euros last year, which included a 2-1 success against Germany in the final.
She has been capped by England on 41 occasions since making her debut in 2018.
After suffering the injury Williamson wrote on Instagram: 'Until I have the words to express my feelings properly, I will struggle to verbalise them. The noise around the situation is loud and I need some quiet to let it all sink in.
'Unfortunately the World Cup and Champions League dream is over for me and everyone will think that's the main focus, but it's the day-to-day of what I'm about to go through that is the most draining of my thoughts.'
