Sam Kerr awarded FA WSL Player of the Year at the London Football Awards

Sam Kerr has been recognised with honours at the London Football Awards 2023 overnight, winning the FA Women's Super League Player of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

The London Football Awards honours players and teams that are based in London, with only these players being eligible to receive an award on the night, with Kerr named as the FA Women's Super League Player of the Year in the ceremony at the Roundhouse in Camden.

Kerr received the FA Women's Super League Player of the Year award for a second consecutive year, after picking up the award for the first time last year.

The forward is having another excellent campaign for Emma Hayes' side, finding the back of the net seven times in 14 WSL appearances. This season has also seen the striker find the back of th net five times in Chelsea's UWCL campaign, becoming the first player ever to score four goals in a UWCL group game when she scored four goals in Chelsea's 8-0 win over Albanian side Vllanzia.

Fellow Chelsea star Lauren James also received an award at the ceremony, named the Women's Young Player of the Year after her breakout season with the Blues. Meanwhile, on the men's side rivals Arsenal cleaned up, with the Gunners taking Manager of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, Young Player of the Year and also taking out Premier League Player of the Year.

The Australian has just surpassed her 100th appearance for the London-based side, having scored 83 goals in 103 appearances for the club.
