I just realized that the life cycle of a footballer is similar to that of a lion - majestic and well respected as a strong youth, but despised and lonely when old and feeble. Instead of allowing itself to be brutalized and killed by a younger lion, the old one moves away from the group and tread carefully to avoid disaster till it dies one way or the other. Likewise, as players grow old, they should move away from highly competitive environments and enrol in weaker leagues where they will be appreciated for their experience - like China, USA, Japan, etc. Pique and co should embrace this line like Iniesta and co instead of overstaying in Barca and subject themselves to any ridicule. We appreciate their past exploits, but they have passed their prime. Best of luck to them.
