Leeds United are weighing up a move for Philadelphia Union left back Kai Wagner.

The 25-year old German is wanted as competition and cover for Junior Firpo who is on the way back to fitness after a month out with injury.

Wagner has been one of the most consistent performers in MLS and has attracted interest from Premier League sides before. Leeds have been scouring the market for cover on a tight budget and believe they can buy Wagner for around $3million (£2.5m).

Ideally, they want to keep a streamlined squad for Jesse Marsch to work with so would look at moving another player out before bringing Wagner in.

The former Schalke defender also has offers from Dinamo Zagreb and Benfica who want an option in case Alex Grimaldo leaves.

Leeds would also like to add another forward. They have been linked to Watford's Ismaila Sarr, but have yet to firm up any Interest or make offers.

Newcastle retain an interest in Leeds winger Jack Harrison but so far the asking price of over £35m has proved prohibitive.
