The problem with the Ballon D’or is the lack of clarity surrounding the metrics they use in order to find the winner. This is the only reason why people are arguing about whether Messi deserved to win it or not. If France Football offered transparency regarding their metrics, the winner would be clear for me. If the Ballon D’or is to be awarded with the best player, regardless of their individual or team performances, then yes, Messi deserved to win it this year. If it’s about individual performances over the course of a year, Lewandowski certainly deserved it. If it’s about a player’s influence in a season where he’s won multiple major honours, then the winner was undoubtedly Jorginho. The problem is these metrics change every year. We’ve seen both Messi & Ronaldo win Ballon D’ors in years where others have had arguably been better. We’ve seen players win it because they’ve won the champions league some years, but not always. And we’ve also seen years where it’s been all about goals & assists. The lack of consistency & transparency is going to hurt the legitimacy of the award if it carries on this way.

I am not taking as a Ronaldo or Messi fan but as a lover of football and as a black man that hates injustice. let's quit talking about this people and reflect on the performances of our black players who would not even get into the too ten just because they're black. George Weah was lucky enough to have won it as a player but hear us what he suffered afterwards (pictures below).
