Overmars open to becoming Barcelona sporting director

Ajax sporting director Marc Overmars hasn't ruled out taking on the same role at Barcelona if the opportunity arises in the future.

The former Barcelona winger recalled having a great time when he lived in Catalonia and stressed that he would choose moving to Spain over potentially making a move to England to become Arsenal's sporting director.

"At a certain point the thing is simple: either I continue and stay here at Ajax or we go abroad again as a family," Overmars said in an interview with Ajax Life.

"I have let that train pass six times.

"Both [Arsenal and Barcelona] are interesting [options], but I think my family would choose Spain. We were very comfortable there and I think that I would choose Barcelona."

Overmars played from Barcelona from the 2000/01 season to the 2003/04 campaign but didn't manage to win anything with the Blaugrana.
