Messi, Ronaldo & Van Dijk lead Best Men's POTY Globe Soccer Award

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo headline the nominees for the Best Men’s Player at the 11th edition of the Globe Soccer Awards.

The annual Globe Soccer Awards ceremony will take place on 29 December 2019 in Dubai and the event organisers have now released the list of seven nominees for the Best Men’s Player award.

Record five-time winner Ronaldo, who is the only player to have won the award more than once, will look to beat off competition from reigning FIFA World Player of the Year Lionel Messi, who has also been shortlisted.

The pair are joined on the seven-player-strong list by Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League-winning quartet of Alisson Becker, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, the latter of whom was recently crowned UEFA Men’s Footballer of the Year.

Manchester City star Bernardo Silva completes the nomination pool, which did not include any Real Madrid players after Los Blancos’ disappointing 2018/19 campaign.
