Atletico Madrid beast Diego Costa named All Football Player of the Week

Atletico Madrid's striker Diego Costa has been named All Football Player of the Week.

Costa highlights our All Football Team of the Week and was selected as a competitive candidate in our All Football Player of the Week Vote, in which he casts the most votes beating Sterling, Mount, Insigne and Dembele to the award.

Only Diego Costa could score four goals and get sent off for sparking a 22-man brawl in the same match.

The Spaniard stole the show on a night which saw Zidane's men utterly humiliated 7-3 by their Madrid rivals.

Of course, Diego Costa was at the centre of it all, and the man clearly doesn't believe in friendlies. He scored a first-half hat-trick, opening by linking up with new boy Joao Felix in the first minute, before capping it off in the 45th.

The Brazil-born striker has netted just 5 La Liga goals since his return to the club from Chelsea in January 2018 but despite a revamp of Atleti's squad this summer, he has remained and is looking sharp and motivated.

As coach Simeone said: "I am convinced that it will be a great season for him (Costa) and his teammates", it looks like something great is starting to happen.
