'Captain America' Megan Rapinoe named All Football Player of the Week

USA women captain Megan Rapinoe has been named All Football Player of the Week. She becomes the 2nd female player to win the award, after her team-mate Alex Morgan. Congratulations!

Rapinoe highlights our All Football Team of the Week and was selected as a competitive candidate in our All Football Player of the Week Vote, in which he casts the most votes beating four other male players (Jesus, Mane, Ighalo & Kessie) to the award.

If you didn't know who Megan Rapinoe was before the start of the 2019 Women's World Cup, chances are you're now familiar.

6 goals & 3 assists in 5 games, Golden Boot for top scorer, Golden Ball for the tournament's best player, leading the United States Women's National Team through a dominant run to their second straight World Cup title. The USWNT captain won every possible part of the Women's World Cup.

And the purple-haired superstar was a lightning rod both on and off the field for the Americans.

With a big target on their back, an ongoing feud with President Trump, and an ongoing lawsuit with their own governing body in the quest for equal pay, Rapinoe and the rest of the American team stepped up under unbelievable pressure.

For Rapinoe, it was nothing new. And she accomplished all her goals perfectly.
