The American midfielder decided to put an end to a career full of success, in which he played with eight different clubs, besides being essential for the USMNT.
Former US international and Houston Dynamo captain, Da Marcus Beasley, announced his retirement for the end of the current season through its social networks.
The soon to be 37-years-old player is currently playing its 20th professional season, it's a four-time Gold Cup winner and has decided to let the world know this will be his last year on the soccer fields.
"Before my 37th birthday, I'd just like to say that this year will be my last. I appreciate all the love, cheers, and jeers throughout these past 20 years. Being on the pith has fulfilled every dream I could have ever imagined. Thank you and more words on another day! #quickliketakingoffabandaid," was the goodbye letter Beasley published on his Twitter account.
Beasley had a 20-year successful career he spent with eight different teams that were; LA Galaxy, Chicago Fire, PSV Eindhoven, Manchester City, Rangers, Hannover 96, Puebla and Houston Dynamo, the club where he will hang up his cleats.
Some of his most significant moments happened with the Dutch club, PSV he won the Eredivisie title during his first year with the team and became the first American footballer to reach a Champions League semifinal.
United States Men's National Team
DaMarcus was an essential player for the US national team as he was a key part of the two-time Gold Cup championship in 2002 and 2003 and won the same competition twice more in 2007 and 2013.
DaMarcus Beasley has four World Cup appearances, 2002 Korea-Japan where the USMNT went all the way into quarterfinals, Germany 2006, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014.
Beasley and the US national team managed to reach the final game of the 2009 South Africa Confederations Cup against Brazil, who won the tournament 3-2 leaving the Bars and Stripes side as the runner-ups.
