On this day in 2016, Ronaldo scored 500th club goal

Ronaldo scored his 500th career club goal in Real Madrid's 2-0 Club World Cup semi-final win over Club America. He netted his 500 goals from just 689 matches. He scored 377 goals for Real Madrid, 118 goals for Manchester United, and 5 for Sporting Lisbon.

On this day in 2011, Kane scored his first goal for Tottenham

Harry Kane scored his first goal for Spurs in their final Europa League group game against Shamrock Rovers. He was just 18 when he came off the bench for the White Hart Lane outfit. He replaced Jermain Defoe on 76 minutes and popped up with the final goal in a 4-0 win.

On this day in 2013, Tottenham 0-5 Liverpool

Captain Luis Suarez netted a brace to lead Liverpool to thrash 10-man Tottenhamand as Henderson, Flanagan and Sterling scored.

On this day in 1992, Man Utd & England star Jesse Lingard born

Lingard joined Man United's youth academy at the age of seven. He made his competitive debut for the club in the first match of the 2014–15 Premier League season at home to Swansea City. He scored his first senior goal for Man United in a 2–0 win against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford.

Lingard made his debut for England against Malta on October 9 of 2016 and was named in the 23-man England squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

On this day in 1986, Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas born

Navas joined Real Madrid from Levante in 2014 for €10 million. In his fifth year in Real Madrid, he gradually loses the No.1 goalkeeper spot because of Courtois' arrival.

Navas has played over 70 times for Costa Rica since making his debut in 2008. He has represented the country at two CONCACAF Gold Cups and the 2014 World Cup and 2018 World Cup. His impressive performances helped the team reach the quarter-finals of the 2014 tournament.

On this day in 1995, Bosman ruling was decided

Bosman was a player whose contract had expired in 1990. He wanted to change teams and move to a French club. However, his new team refused to meet his Belgian club's transfer fee demand, so the former club refused to release Bosman. He took his case to the European Court of Justice and then the ruling was made. The decision allowed players in the EU to move to another club at the end of a contract without a transfer fee being paid. 

On this day in 1983, England beat Luxembourg with a thrashing 9-0

The match, played at Wembley, was the third of the qualification campaign for both teams. Seven different scorers set an England record for the largest number of scorers in a single match. But it wasn't enough for England to qualify, as they ultimately finished second to Denmark in the group and missed out on the tournament.
