Liverpool's under-19s were beaten for the first time in the UEFA Youth League this season as Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to win in the French capital.

The Reds could have guaranteed a place in the last 16 - only the group winners qualify automatically - with a draw in Paris.

However they must now defeat Napoli at home on December 11, or otherwise face a possible play-off in order to progress.

After a quiet opening, Canadian international Liam Millar  slotted home from a tight angle after a great team move, Rafa Camacho playing the key pass.

Somehow Liverpool failed to double their advantage just seconds later, as Millar set up Camacho this time, but he screwed wide with the goal gaping.

PSG made them pay almost immediately after with an equaliser, Ruben Providence set free through the middle and chipping over keeper Vitezslav Jaros.

The hosts grew into the ascendancy after leveling, and should have led when Omar Yaisien was found in plenty of space by the penalty spot, but his side footed effort was deflected wide by defender Rhys Williams.

Three minutes after the break, PSG did lead. Arnaud Muinga fired the home side ahead through a crowded penalty area after Liverpool failed to deal with a low cross.

Liverpool struggled to make chances in order to get back into the game, and nearly conceded a third, Adil Aouchiche brilliantly volleying at goal with a back heel, only a fine fingertip save by Jaros onto the post denying him.

With nine minutes to go PSG wrapped up the three points from the penalty spot - Jake Cain brought down Muinga, who picked himself up and sent Jaros the wrong way.

Liverpool set up a grandstand finish with five minutes to play - Camacho's left wing looping cross looked to be going in over the keeper regardless, but Millar nodded in on the line to make sure.

The Reds could not find an equaliser, but having beaten PSG 5-2 at home, they lead Group C on head-to-head record and remain well placed to reach the knock-outs.
