On this day in 2010, Berbatov scored FIVE goals as Man Utd beat Blackburn 7-1
Berbatov gave United the lead from Nani's delivery before Park Ji-Sung combined with Wayne Rooney for 2-0. Berbatov pounced on a Pascal Chimbonda backpass to score the third before grabbing his hat-trick with a firm strike from just inside the area.
Nani lashed in to make it 5-0, Berbatov followed up Park's blocked shot and then fired in an angled strike before Chris Samba's late consolation header.
United's Bulgarian ace became the fourth player to score five goals in a Premier League game, joining former United striker Andy Cole, Newcastle's Alan Shearer and Tottenham's Jermain Defoe.
On this day in 2002, Henry scored his only UCL hat-trick as Arsenal beat Roma 3-1
A Thierry Henry hat-trick gave Arsenal the perfect start to their UCL campaign that season.
Arsenal had the worst possible start going behind to Antonio Cassano's fourth-minute goal. But, before the Olympic Stadium cheers had subsided, Henry levelled the scores with a sublime finish.
The French international scored again to give Arsenal the lead on 70 minutes and soon after completed his hat-trick with a superbly taken free-kick.
On this day 2011, Gary Speed passed away at the age of 42
On this day 2011, former Wales coach Gary Speed found died in his house, some say that he hung himself.
Speed won 85 caps for his country during a 14-year international career. He was given the top job in Welsh football despite only having four months managerial experience.
Speed began his playing career at Leeds United after coming through the trainee ranks and was part of the side that won the last Football League title in 1992, before the introduction of the Premier League.
Speed had appeared on BBC1's Football Focus show on Saturday afternoon, just hours before his death.
On this day in 1941, French World Cup-winning coach Jacquet born
World Cup-winning French manager Aimé Jacquet was born in the commune of Sail-sous-Couzan.
He enjoyed a long a successful playing career as a defensive midfielder, spending thirteen seasons at Saint-Étienne from 1960 to 1973. While there, he won five league titles and lifted the Coupe de France three times. He moved to Lyon for his last two seasons before retiring in 1976.
He took the reins of the national team in 1993. He adopted a 4-2-1-3 formation and frequently experimented with his line-up, which drew heavy criticism from French commentators. But his work led France to victory in the 1998 World Cup with a 3-0 victory over Brazil in the Stade de France.
On this day in 2008, Inzaghi rescued late 2-2 draw for Milan in UCL
Filippo Inzaghi struck a late equaliser to break Portsmouth's hearts and send AC Milan into the UCL's last 32.
Younes Kaboul headed in Glen Johnson's pinpoint cross to put Pompey ahead and Kanu doubled the lead from close range.
Inzaghi hit the woodwork again with a diving header, before Ronaldinho scored with a superb free-kick and Inzaghi's injury-time toe-poke snatched a draw.
On this day in 2004, Wimbledon set 78th consecutive league match unbeaten record
Two-year-old club AFC Wimbledon set an English record by playing in their 78th consecutive league match without a loss.
The club was founded in June 2002 by former supporters of Wimbledon FC. After losing 2-0 to Withdean, they went unbeaten for the remainder of the season. Their unbeaten streak continued throughout their entire second season as they finished on top of the table.
They passed the old record holders by drawing 1-1 with Bromley in the 76th match of their unbeaten run. They travelled to Bashley for their record-setting match. Bashley went up 1-0 in 9 minutes but Everard equalized in 60 minutes with a header, then Randall gave the visitors the lead with another header in 89 minutes.
Wimbledon's streak ended on 4 December with a 2-0 loss to Cray Wanderers, but they won the league for their second consecutive promotion.
On this day in 2001, Bayern won the Intercontinental Cup with an extra-time goal against Boca
Boca had beaten Real Madrid the previous year and were hoping to repeat as champions. Playing at the National Stadium in Tokyo, they had the better chances in the first half, with attempts from Cristian Traverso and Marcelo Delgado, but both teams went into the break scoreless.
Just after the restart, Delgado received a second yellow card for diving, taking Boca down to ten men. Despite the imbalance, Bayern could not crack their defence and the match remained deadlocked at 0-0 through regulation.
Finally, in the 109th minute, Bayern centre-back Samuel Kuffour scored off a corner kick. The ball initially fell to Claudio Pizarro, but his header was cleared off the line. After pinballing around the goalmouth, the rebound came to Kuffour, who knocked it home for the deciding goal and Bayern won 1-0.
