US Under-20 national team defeats Mexico 2-0 to win Concacaf championship

Thanksgiving dinner will taste a whole lot better for US national team fans after the US Under-20s beat their Mexican counterparts on Wednesday night to claim their second straight Concacaf Under-20 title, crowning them as the best team in the region.
LA Galaxy academy product Alex Mendez scored both goals in a 2-0 win en route to winning the Golden Ball as the MVP of the tournament. Both goals were assisted by FC Dallas 18-year-old Paxton Pomykal.
The win capped a dominant run by the US team, which rolled over the opposition with eight straight wins. They outscored the opposition 46-2 with five shutouts to close out the competition.
The USA were one of four Concacaf teams that qualified from the tournament to the 2019 FIFA Under-20 World Cup that will be played in Poland from May 25 to June 16.
