Lyon president reveals stance over Ndombele amid Spurs & Man City links

Latest Spurs transfer news includes an update on Tanguy Ndombele's future

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has once again given Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham Hotspur hope of signing Tanguy Ndombele next summer.

The 21-year-old is on the radar of many Premier League clubs - including Manchester City - following a string of impressive performances for the Ligue 1 outfit over the past 12 months.

Signed from Amiens after impressing on an initial season-long loan deal in August 2017, Ndombele was linked with a move to north London in the summer as Pochettino continues to prioritise signing a long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele.

However, he stayed put and signed a new deal at the Groupama Stadium.

Although it doesn't necessarily mean Ndombele will remain in France with Lyon for too long and Aulas admitted last week that he's powerless to resist offers from Europe's top clubs.

"When players decide to play for Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester," he said when speaking on Radio Scoop . "You don’t decide to sell Lacazette or Tolisso, and in the same vein, I can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to keep Ndombele or Aouar next summer."

Aulas has since reiterated that stance when quizzed about the possibility of Ndombele seeing out his contract with the seven-time Ligue 1 title winners.

"Financially, we have the best results in France", he told French daily Le Progres. 

"That guarantees certain things, but it does not guarantee that we will be able to keep Ndombele, Aouar and other players."

Whilst that's not official confirmation that Lyon will entertain offers for the French international either in January or in the summer, it will likely be regarded as a positive sign that Ndombele could follow in the footsteps of Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso in the near future.

With that said, the midfielder's asking price could prove to be a sticking point for Spurs as the Daily Star claim he's valued in the region of £70million.
