On the second day of the UEFA Youth League group stages, three vital points were at stake for Barcelona when they visited the Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre in London.
Barcelona came into the game with a win under their belt after beating PSV Eindhoven in the Mini Estadi but the team knew a win over Spurs would help them qualify for the next round.
Tottenham, who drew their first match against Inter Milan, also understood the importance of their game against the Spanish team and coach John McDermott advised his team to approach it more calmly.
The first ten minutes of the game was a siege by Tottenham that was somewhat uncomfortable for Barcelona as the English side routinely put on the pressure.
The locals almost produced the game's first goal after a counter attack lead by J'Neil Bennett was squandered as Rodel Richards failed to finish.
Barcelona on the other hand took advantage of their first threatening opportunity and Joan Rojas gave them a 1-0 lead after 23 minutes and some of the pressure from Tottenham was relieved.
It seemed as though Barcelona were going to move into the second half with the score in their favour but as the clock struck the 45th minute, Richards levelled the scores.
The second half was completely different to the beginning and Barcelona came out with a more driven attack and held more possession of the ball.
In the centre of the pitch, Lucas de Vega, Alex Collado, Konrad De La Fuente and Nils Mortimer were creating dangerous chances and helped the team play more characteristically but nobody could find the winning goal.
Tottenham had trouble creating more of their own chances in front of Arnau Tenas' goal and as a result couldn't find a break through to claim their first win of the tournament.
With this draw, Barcelona remain leaders with four points thanks to PSV's win against Inter Milan.
The next game for Denis Silva's squad will be on October 24 when they visit Inter Milan at the Mini Estadi.
