Chelsea Assistant Coach Zola Cast Doubts Over Victor Moses Future, Rates Hudson-Odoi Higher Than Moses

Recently retired Nigeria international Victor Moses is battling to rescue his club career at English Premier League side Chelsea after falling down the pecking order under new coach Maurizo Sarri.

Moses was one of the first team on the team sheet for two years under sacked manager Antonio Conte as the Nigerian thrive under a new role as a wing-back in the Italian preferred 3-5-2 formation during his reign.

New coach Sarri plays a different style and the Nigerian has found games hard to come by as he has missed the last five games of the team in all competitions and he could also play second fiddle in their Carabao Cup game against Liverpool.

So far Moses has only made two substitute appearance this season , a situation which could continue against the team where he spent time on loan four seasons ago, judging by the statement of assistant coach Gianfranco Zola.

Zola hinted that youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi who started ahead of Victor Moses in the community shield will likely start again against Liverpool tomorrow ahead of the 28 year old Moses.

“Callum has done extremely well in pre-season, one of the players who impressed the most with Ethan Ampadu. They are both in contention tomorrow, in the squad, and we will see”, Zola said at the pre match conference.

“We have a lot of players. We didn’t do a big pre-season, so these games can serve as a pre-season to give time for players like Christensen, about Cahill, an opportunity to get games. Callum and Ethan are the future of this club and we are going to take care of them.”

“Don’t forget that, when we played the Community Shield, he (Odoi) was in ahead of players like Victor Moses. If he hasn’t got the consideration of the value, we wouldn’t have done that. He is the future. But he’s in a very competitive team. He has to be patient, wait for his opportunities and, when they come, take them in the best way.”
