All Football Power Rankings of the Week (Sep 25, 2018): Liverpool overtake Barca on 2nd

Hello again! We organize clubs of Europe's top 5 leagues into an order that reflects the up-to-the-minute hierarchy every Tuesday. 

The rankings are a season-long measurement of clubs, tracking teams throughout 2018-19 and taking into account results from all competitions. Our rankings consider advanced stats, full-season play and recent performance with some gut feeling mixed in. 

Sides that have lost the fewest games naturally rank higher—though the strength of opposition met in a loss is considered—and both UEFA Champions/Europa League form and presence are used as tiebreakers for those with similar records. Teams that gather big wins against strong opponents get a boost.

Defending champions of Europe's top five leagues, Champions League and Europa League can get relatively higher inizial points in the start of new season.

10. Arsenal

Arsenal sealed a 4th consecutive Premier League win following their Europa League triumph.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang shined with a brace as Arsenal saw off Vorskla with a 4-2 win in their Europa League opener.

On Sunday, Unai Emery's side closed gap on Premier League top 4 with a 2-0 home victory over Everton.

9. Manchester United

Paul Pogba, a coin with two sides, a man of masterclass as well as carelessness.

Manchester United eased past Young Boys in Champions League with a 3-0 win during which Paul Pogba scored two goals and laid on an assist.

The French midfielder later however, ruined Fred's celebration of his first Utd goal as his costly mistake gift newly-promoted Premier League side Wolves a comfortable equaliser after which Red Devils were held 1-1 at Old Trafford.

8. PSG

PSG sealed a 6th Ligue 1 win in a row but lost to Liverpool in heavyweight Champions League clash.

Thomas Meunier and Kylian Mbappe both scored at Anfield but were not enough as Liverpool's super-sub Roberto Firmino edged PSG with a injury-time winner.

On Sunday, Thomas Tuchel's side bounced back from European woe maintaining their 100% league start with a 3-1 comeback win over Rennes.

7.Manchester City

Manchester City swept past Cardiff City with a 5-0 win but were stunned by Lyon in Champions League.

Nabil Fekir did the damage with one goal and one assist in Champions League to hand below-pair Manchester City their first defeat of the season.

Pep Guardiola's side later bounced back from the midweek loss with a 5-0 thrashing over Premier League newcomers Cardiff City during which Riyad Mahrez bagged his first brace at City.

6. Bayern Munich

Niko Kovac led Bayern to a 4th successive Bundesliga victory with Schalke win after beating Benfica in Champions League.

Bayern Munich cruised to a 2-0 victory over Benfica in Champions League on Wednesday with Robert Lewandowski and Renato Sanches on target. 

The Bundesliga reigning champions then sealed a 2-0 victory over Schalke 04 to maintain perfect start to season with James Rodriguez the star on pitch. 

5. Chelsea

Chelsea were held by West Ham in a goalless draw after their Europa League triumph.

A much-rotated Chelsea side defeated PAOK in Europa League opener with Willian's seven-minute winner on Thursday.

Maurizio Sarri's side however, couldn't break the deadlock in West Ham clash as the Blues failed to keep pace with Premier League leaders Liverpool after their 0-0 draw.

4. Juventus

Juventus beat Valencia 2-0 in Champions League after Ronaldo was sent off, who later sealed a 2-0 win against Serie A new comers Frosinone.

Two penalties from Miralem Pjanic helped Juventus overcome numerical minority following Cristiano Ronaldo's dismissal and sealed a 2-0 win over Valencia.

The Portugal star shrugged off his midweek woe on Sunday as he scored his third Serie A goal inspiring Bianconeri's 5th consecutive league win to maintain 100% start.

3. Barcelona

Barcelona eased past PSV in Champions League but were then held by Girona at Camp Nou.

Lionel Messi scored a stunning hat-trick to cap off a 4-0 win over PSV in Barcelona's first European clash of the season as Ousmane Dembele continued his form with a stunner.

On Sunday however, a 2-2 draw with Girona ended the perfect start of Calatans who were then forced to share La Liga top spots with Real Madrid. 

2. Liverpool

A blistering Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp registered a club-record 7th consecutive victory this week, overtaking Barcelona in our Power Rankings.

The last season's Champions League finalists started their new European journey at Anfield with a sensational 3-2 win over mighty PSG thanks to super-sub Roberto Firmino's injury-time winner.

Moreover, Mohamed Salah, Joel Matip and Co helped Reds cruise to a 3-0 vitory over Southampton to continue their perfect Premier League start.

1. Real Madrid

Champions League defending champions Real Madrid began new campaign with a bang and moved joint-top of La Liga table.

Gareth Bale and Isco sent Real Madrid off to a winning start in Champions League after a 3-0 victory over last season's semifinalists Roma, during which new No.7 Mariano Diaz scored a golazo on his second debut for Los Blancos on Wednesday night.

On Saturday, Julen Lopetegui's side moved up to the joint-top spot of La Liga table after a 1-0 win over Espanyol with Marco Asensio's first goal of the season.
