Wijnaldum returns to Newcastle to meet owner of his biggest Instagram fan page

Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum opted to surprise one of his dedicated fans by turning up at their house in Newcastle.

The former Newcastle United midfielder made the drive north from Merseyside to meet the teenager who runs the biggest Wijnaldum fan page on the photo sharing site Instagram.

Armed with a Reds shirt and a signed sketch drawing, Wijnaldum was all smiles as he met the owner of the account.

Revealing the visit through Instagram, the fan page wrote: 'Wow Wow Wow! Reds I can’t actually put into words how happy I am of what happened last night! So I got a phone call of @dkb___ telling me he’s coming into Newcastle with @gwijnaldum to meet me.

'Reds!!!! My dream has came true, I can’t thank you enough Gini traveling all this way to meet me.

'I love you so much, you were such a lovely person to speak to and I hope to see you again very soon! How amazing.'

Wijnaldum has stepped up impressively since the arrival of Jurgen Klopp and is a fixture in the line-up despite the summer arrivals of Fabinho and Naby Keita.

Playing a deeper role, the Dutch midfielder has already had an important say in results having scored in the closely-fought away win over Tottenham.

Rotation is inevitable at Liverpool given the number of competitions they are battling in and it remains to be seen if Wijnaldum will feature in the Carabao Cup against Chelsea on Wednesday.
