Premier League clubs have generated a record £625million from their shirts this season — a rise of 42 per cent in three years.
The increase in the value of shirt-related deals shows the rising commercial strength of the Premier League, with sponsorship growing £187m in just three years, from £437.8m in 2015/16 season to £624.8m.
The huge sums are the combined income clubs are making from shirt and sleeve sponsorships, and kit deals with the manufacturers.
Over the same period, the average price of a Premier League replica shirt has also been pushed up by manufacturers, from £49.45 to £52.09 — a rise of £2.64.
Sports sponsorship analyst Dr Peter Rohlmann said: 'Within a few years, kit supply deals have increased £187m — a staggering growth rate.'
The biggest deals include Manchester United's £75m-a-year kit deal with adidas and the £47m a year that Chevrolet are paying to be the main shirt sponsor.
United, Arsenal and Chelsea all have £10m-a-year sleeve deals, while Manchester City and Liverpool are both earning over £5m a year. Spurs do not yet have a sleeve deal.
