Malaysia head coach Tan Cheng Hoe on Tuesday has announced the call-up list for the team's two friendly matches; against Chinese Taipei and Cambodia.

The list includes nine players who recently helped Malaysia U-23 reach the round of 16 stage in the Asian Games. They were edged out by Japan U-23 1-0 in the stage.

Out of the 24 players, six are from Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT), four each from Perak and Kedah, three from Kuala Lumpur, and one each from Melaka United, Sabah, Kelantan, Pahang, PKNS FC and Selangor, and one from Thai League side Nakhon Ratchasima.

Curiously, Pahang's Nor Azam Azih and Matthew Davies' names are absent, after the two declined to join Malaysia U-23's Asiad campaign, despite having been called up. However, their attacking teammate Norshahrul Idlan Talaha has received his first call up for over a year.

The Harimau Malaya squad will train for two days in Nilai, on 3 and 4 September, before leaving for Taipei on the 5th. They will play Chinese Taipei on the 7th, before taking on Cambodia on September 10 in Phnom Penh.

In October and November they will play in three more friendly matches, against Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan and Maldives, before kicking off their 2018 AFF Championship campaign on November 8, playing away to Cambodia.
