Watch the shotstopper demonstrate his unique punching ability... but we are not sure Manuel Neuer will be copying him

IT SEEMS foot work is all the rage when it comes to goalkeepers nowadays – but Syrian stopper Ibrahim Alma has other ideas.

Much has been said about the importance of a No1 being able to play out from the back.

Since Manuel Neuer burst onto the scene the craze has swept through the continent.

The German is just as good with his feet as his hands and can often be found outside his box playing sweeper-keeper and launching an attack.

The slow, methodical build-up from the back came into fashion with Barcelona’s tiki-taka.

However, Alma is clearly not a fan of that style as he demonstrated his own unique style of attack.

And it does not half pack a punch!

The astonishing display came during a clash last night with Japan.

The 25-year-old throws the ball upwards and meets it with his fist – and amazingly knocks it straight into the oppositions half.

You cannot help but be impressed by Alma’s abilities… although we are not sure Pep Guardiola will be instructing new No1 Ederson to be following suit for Manchester City next season.

Alma plays for Syrian Premier League side Al-Ittihad.

He has played 28 times for his country.
