OFFICIAL: Barca B captain Sergio Palencia joins Bordeaux on loan

As previously revealed by SPORT, FC Barcelona and Bordeaux have reached an agreement over a loan deal for Barça B captain Sergi Palencia. The French club will cover the player's entire salary during that time and there's no option for the move to become permanent next summer.

Palencia will leave Barcelona after 12 seasons at the club, the last two of which he's been captain of the B side. His most pleasing memory will be Barça B's promotion to LaLiga 1|2|3. He's played 103 matches for the youth side, scoring two goals.

Palencia is very competitive and made his senior debut under Luis Enrique in the Catalunya Super Cup against Espanyol during the 2016/17 season.

The player wants more regular playing time, at a higher level, as he'll try to help Bordeaux challenge for a Europa League spot under coach Gustavo Poyet. This doesn't signify a 'goodbye', rather a 'see you soon', as Palencia is still highly valued at Barcelona.
