FC Cincinnati has added former Norway international and MLS center back Pa-Modou Kah to its technical staff as a member of the scouting staff, the USL club announced Wednesday.
Kah, now age 38, spent four seasons playing in MLS, joining the Portland Timbers in 2013 before moving to the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2015. More recently, he served as the head coach of Vancouver's U-18 squad and as an assistant with the club's MLS and USL sides.
“We are delighted to add someone with Pas playing and coaching experience to our technical staff as we continue to build out our scouting network,” Cincinnati technical director Luke Sassano said in a statement. “With a well-respected career in both MLS and Europe, Pa offers a unique perspective on the qualities and characteristics needed for players to succeed in the North American market.”
Kah began his playing career with Norways Vålerenga in 1998, where he played six seasons. He also played seven seasons and made more than 200 appearances for Roda JC in The Netherlands. He also had 10 international appearances for Norway between 2001 and 2008.
In 2016, Kah helped current FCC head coach Alan Koch lead Vancouver Whitecaps 2 to the USL Playoffs.
“We are excited to add Pa to our club,” Koch said. “From my time working with him as a player and a coach in Vancouver, I have seen first-hand his eye for talent and his ability to build relationships with those around him. I am incredibly excited to add someone with his technical ability and knowledge of MLS to our group.”
