Sweden head into their last-16 clash with Switzerland buoyed by their 3-0 victory over Mexico, while Switzerland look to extend their unbeaten run

Group F winners Sweden will take on Switzerland in the penultimate last-16 fixture at the Krestovsky Stadium in St Petersburg on Tuesday.

Sweden were surprise group winners and enter on a high after beating Mexico 3-0 in their final group fixture.

Switzerland, meanwhile, also started their campaign strongly by holding tournament favourites Brazil to a 1-1 stalemate. They finished off the group stage with a win over Serbia and then a draw against Costa Rica to finish second in Group E with five points.

The winner of the tie will go on to face either Colombia or England in the quarter-final.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the clash between Sweden and Switzerland.

TV Channel, Live Stream & How To Watch

In the United States (US), the game can be watched live and on-demand with fuboTV (7-day free trial).

New users can sign up for a free seven-day trial of the live sports streaming service, which can be accessed via iOS, Android, Chromecast, Amazon Fire TV, Roku and Apple TV as well as on a web browser.

In the United Kingdom (UK), the game can be watched live on TV on BBC One or streamed live online using the BBC iPlayer.

Squads & Team News

Midfielder Sebastian Larsson is suspended for the game though he is likely to have missed out regardless after he was stretchered off in the win over Mexico. He is likely to be replaced by Gustav Svensson.

Albin Ekdal, Viktor Claesson and Mikael Lustig need to be careful as they are one booking away from being suspended for the quarter-final, should they defeat Switzerland.

Potential Sweden XI: Olsen; Lustig, Lindelof, Granqvist, Augustinsson; Claesson, Svensson, Ekdal, Forsberg; Toivonen, Berg.

Defenders Stephan Lichtsteiner and Fabian Schar are both suspended against Sweden, and Michael Lang and Johan Djourou are expected to be drafted into the XI.

Steven Zuber is questionable due to illness, while Denis Zakaria, Valon Behrami and Xherdan Shaqiri are one booking away from suspension.

Potential Switzerland XI: Sommer; Lang, Djourou, Akanji, Rodriguez; Behrami, Xhaka; Shaqiri, Dzemaili, Embolo; Gavranovic.

Match Preview

Sweden were unlikely winners of a group that included Germany and Mexico, winning 1-0 against South Korea and 3-0 over Mexico. Janne Andersson's side also could have taken points off defending champions Germany if it wasn't for a stoppage-time Toni Kroos free-kick – though Die Mannschaft ended up finishing bottom of their group anyway after losing 2-0 to South Korea in their final group fixture.

Sweden will be looking to reach the quarter-finals of a World Cup for the first time since the 1994 tournament when they finished third. Switzerland, meanwhile, have not reached the quarter-final stage since 1954, when they hosted the competition.

Sweden's form this tournament has been impressive, although they were in danger of being eliminated following their last-minute loss to Germany. But their response to that defeat was positive as they were able to emphatically beat Mexico 3-0 in their final Group F fixture, and will have momentum on their side as they head into their clash against Switzerland.

Andreas Granqvist has scored two goals at the tournament so far – both spot-kicks.

Switzerland finished as Group E runners-up, having won one and drawn two of their fixtures, including a hard-fought 1-1 stalemate against Brazil.

Their start to the tournament has been strong, winning 2-1 over Serbia after their draw against Brazil and then finishing 2-2 against Costa Rica. Goalkeeper Yann Sommer scored an own goal in the 93rd minute, but didn't hinder their second-place group finish.

The winner of the last-16 fixture will go on to face Colombia or England in the quarter-finals.
