Roberto Martinez's side will look to extend their winning streak with a victory over Japan, boosted by Lukaku and Hazard's return to fitness

Belgium will get their last 16 fixture against Japan underway at the Rostov Arena as both side will look to secure a spot in the quarter-final.

Roberto Martinez's Belgium side topped their group ahead of England with three consecutive victories, and remain one of the favourites to go far in the competition.

Japan were outsiders to qualify past the group stage but managed to do so at the expense of Poland and Senegal, progressing through the fine margin of having a better disciplinary record than the African team.

Here is everything you need to know ahead of the fixture between the two sides.

Squads & Team News

It is bad news for Japan as the Belgium side seem to have returned to full fitness, with Hazard, Lukaku and Kevin De Bruyne all set to start.

Potential Belgium XI: Courtois; Alderweireld, Kompany, Vertonghen; Meunier, De Bruyne, Witsel, Carrasco; Hazard, Mertens; Lukaku.

Japan rested key players such as Shinji Kagawa, Takashi Inui and Yuya Osako in the 1-0 loss to Poland in their final fixture and so they will be expected to return to the lineup.

Match Preview

Belgium were massive favourites heading into the tournament in Russia what with their impressive squad on hand, which include the likes of Premier League stars De Bruyne, Hazard, Courtois and Lukaku.

They are on a perfect winning streak this tournament after winning all three of their group games and finishing top of Group G ahead of England, earning them a last 16 tie against Group H runners-up Japan. Belgium managed to edge out a narrow 1-0 victory against the Three Lions despite fielding a second-tier team with Adnan Januzaj scoring the only goal, and Japan will struggle to break down the side which has talent in every aspect of the field.

Belgium eased their way past the likes of Tunisia and Panama and remain contenders to win the World Cup and are buoyed by Lukaku and Hazard's return to full fitness.

Japan did well to qualify to the last 16 stage after progressing on the basis of better disciplinary form than Senegal, though will find it hard to outsmart a Belgium team that has been gifted with a stellar midfield.

They are the only Asian team remaining in the competition and face an uphill battle in beating Belgium to make it to the quarter-final phase.

The winner of the last 16 tie will go on to face either Mexico or Brazil in the quarter-final, with a semi-final against France or Uruguay awaiting for the triumphant team.
