Walker will unveil new blond hairdo during England against Colombia

Kyle Walker is set to unveil a striking new blonde World Cup hairstyle.

The Manchester City and England defender was keeping his new look under his hat on Monday.

The 28-year-old Premier League winner failed to keep his secret, however, when a tuft of blonde hair was seen protruding from his grey beanie as England trained in Repino, St Petersburg, before travelling to Moscow for Tuesday's match.

One England source confirmed: 'He has gone blonde. I think he fancied a change.'

His former Spurs team-mate Dele Alli was seen jesting with the player and trying to remove his Nike hat to expose his locks while warming up in front of the cameras.

England's official TV channel reporter Craig Mitch, who was broadcasting live from the training session, asked his camera team to zoom in on Walker's head and said blonde hair could definitely be seen sticking out from his hat.

'I think Kyle Walker has a new hair do,' he told viewers of the channel which is granted exclusive access to the players and is behind a series called 'Lion's Den' where players are interviewed inside the England camp.

'I think I spot a bit of blonde… had he done it? Is he legally blonde? If you look underneath his hat right at the front, I am sure, I am sure he has a bit of blonde.'

England's players are not shy in trying new hairstyles, despite their handiwork being seen and judged by millions around the world tuning in on TV.

They usually rely on the work of Justin Carr, who is the personal barber to several players including Walker, Dele All and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Past World Cups have also seen revolutionary hairstyles with players like Kevin Keegan and his perm, Chris Waddle with a mullet and David Beckham and his mohican, famously favoured by actor Bobby De Nero in the film Taxi Driver.

But Sir Bobby Charlton made the best of his remaining locks while playing for England and used to flick his hair back in a classic comb over style.
