Russia goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev becomes All Football Man of the Match as World Cup host nation Russia knock out Spain by penalties.

Akinfeev saves two penalties from Koke and Iago Aspas to send the host nation through to the quarter-finals.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper has long been known to fans because he was once one of the hottest prospects in world football.

In 2009, Akinfeev was widely tipped for a move to Manchester United but he stayed at boyhood club CSKA Moscow however.

At the age of five, Akinfeev joined CSKA Moscow youth ranks and since then he has been there forever, making more than 500 appearances for the capital club.

He has kept more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper in the Russian Premier League history.

Sarcastically, he went 11 years without keeping a clean sheet in the Champions League from 2006 to 2017, only ending it when CSKA Moscow beat AEK Athens 2-0 away in qualification rounds in July last year.

But who cares now, Akinfeev and Russia are into the quarter-finals and will face either Croatia or Denmark.
